AIR FACTORY Bremen / SPEDITION AiR LOGISTICS

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS SAT 3rd + SUN 4th from 7 PM

On the last day of the workshop you will not find us until late afternoon at spedition:

instead of finishing the manufacturing work and prepare the first factory tour and public presentation for the evening we will enter the Bremer Karneval. We found an old rocket in the rooms of spedition that has many inserts and missions in the past in different (Culture) Spaces, developed it to an Ariane 6.0 program and we’ll bring it to the Karneval instead of Samba: Ein Aufstand der Gartenzwerge und revolutionären Zipfelmützen – a Garden Gnome Revolution – against the romantic image of discovering the SPACE – EXPLORING OR EXPLODING – and showing the purpose of Space Technology for the armaments industry. When you want to join and support us: We will meet at 12 AM at Glocke.

For the Public Presentations at the evenings we prepared until now:

Informations about James Tilly Matthews and the Air Loom, impressions and thoughts to the AiR Factory in Budapest, footage of the demonstration Friday afternoon against the turkish invasion in Afrin and how all this refers to the Bremen Year Sternstunden 2018. You can take part in our ARIANE 6.0 Quiz and there will be more to see and DISCOVER in OUR SPACE.

We kindly invite you to the Opening of SPEDITION AiR LOGISTICS – your business of transport of culture, art, music and informations: the new dependance of the Budapest AiR Factory in Bremen at kunst- und kulturverein spedition.

After a successful first presentation of the AiR Factory during the Off-Biennále in Budapest in November last year we proudly present the new location in Bremen.

In a 3 DAY WORKSHOP engineers, experts, researchers with different artistic skills from the Performance Projects PNEUMA SZÖV. (Budapest) and ONGOING PROJECT (Berlin/Leipzig) worked out a concept for a new industry that clears the air for communication and information.

Be part of this factory tour and join us in this free performance night!

Air Factory – Reclaim the Air!

// heterotopia, immersive multimedia performance, walk-in environment, home-base building //

How are paranoias created today and how is it possible to alter the climate?
The Air Factory opened its gates in an abandoned and secret floor of the historical ‘Heinrich Udvar’ in Budapest’s 8th district for three weeks in October 2017. About 50 people formed over half a year an open community throughout the research process and finally realised 8 performances in Budapest and a smaller format in Bremen Spedition in February 2018.
Starting point of the research was the question how the original story of James Tilly Matthews from the early 19th century could be taken as a basis for reflection about today’s society. Matthews, patient Zero of diagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, had the illusion of secret Airloom Gangs controlling politics after the French Revolution with huge hidden influencing machines. The Air Factory is a journey through these themes actualised through the participants: politics of fears, quest for free spaces, gentrification that works against common culture spaces, consciousness about consuming habits (autonomous food,
transport chaines, etc.), conspiracy theories and fake news.
The Air Factory was an installative spatial performance, a community-based home-experiment, art research, meeting point and knowledge-sharing center. Visitors of the factory could participate in the ongoing work of the factory. They could dive into the interactive, immersive labyrinth-performance-
exhibition-workshops-roleplay by finding their own role, path and connections. They got a breath of fresh air and insights into the real and only conspiracy, the rabbit-hole…
The Air Factory was a revival and renewal of the Pneuma project LUFTHASE in 2008.

Article on Air Factory by Júlia Salamon in Balkon

Lufthase

// a performance, labyrinth and multiple installation with machines, ghosts, city air
// 2008, October
// Budapest, Old Corvin Shopping Mall.

Lufthase is a secret air factory built on the fact that (in)visible fictions build (in)visible facts and that air pollution makes politics. Breathing against working, breathing for working. Work for breath.
Starting point of the factory was the big airloom by James Tilly Matthews, developed in Bedlam, London in the beginning of the 19th century, known as the first documented case study of paranoid schizo- phrenia. Due to electromagnetic waves, the airloom could drive brains more than 100 years before our modern mass media and other advanced influencing machines. During 1 month the factory awaited new workers and handled their brains with chaotic energy. The project was planned and realised with a growing number of factory workers and allies. The factory workers were a group of approx. 40 people: friends, volunteers, artists, activists, fantoms, historical creatures.
The audience could find their own spaces and roles within the air factory – some returned after the first visit to create an own unit among the 30 rooms of the abandoned Corvin office system. This collaborative approach was a core of the project project that created energy within and beyond the performance. Pneuma Szöv. as a network was established during LUFTHASE.
